P5000 for a haircut?
By shu
A free salon styled haircut, oppsss… wag ismolin!
I told myself I should forget it but, alas after a month I received an e-mail from them informing me about the details. I had to admit I was quite disappointed sa prize na free haircut kasi katwiran ko I could get a haircut anywhere. Even though I wasn’t that enthusiastic about the prize, I still called up LC Genesis So from team yehey who is handling the promo for Pantene, unfortunately she was out in her office, a certain guy who answered the phone got my name and number, he told me he would informed LC as soon she got back.
After that she texted me and ask me to choose from the Pantene’s Council of Stylists.
My first choice was Jing Monis of Propaganda since I already saw his name at Cosmopolitan Magazine but Propaganda is in Greenbelt, a place I am not so familiar with, so I opted for Jude Hipolito of Univers Phyto Salon by Kaizen, who is no.1 on the list of Pantene’s Council of Stylists, there must be a reason why he is in that number.
The day of the appointment I was quite apprehensive because I don’t know what to expect. I was also praying that Jude is not a snob, a stylist like him is used to rich and beautiful people, and I am neither of both.
My appointment was 4pm but I left home early. When I was already in Glorietta, LC texted me, saying that she was already in Rustan’s waiting for me. At the entrance of the salon I saw a very pretty lady in green t-shirt(LC) with her is an equally good-looking guy, I didn’t ask who he is. Anyway, she took my before picture and conducted a little interview for the website. After a few minutes Jude Hipolito came and introduced himself.
He checked my hair and asked me few questions about it. What treatment did my hair undergone and where it was treated. He asked me why I had chosen him, I answered him stupidly because he was the nearest in my place. He said wrong answer and laughed. (How could I be so dim-witted? grrr…) I could have answered him because he is 1 on the list. LC and Jude talked about shampoo, hair treatment and latest hair treatment, I was just listening. Then he told one of his staff to shampoo my hair. After shampooing, they put minty conditioner on my hair and left it for about half an hour. While waiting, Rose Velasco came and chatted with LC, Rose is the partner of Jude whose expertise is Hair Color, Jude said he had witnessed how Rose did a mission impossible job like correcting a disastrous hair color from other salons and the some stuff like that.. (Awesome!)
My hair was blow dry and when it was little bit dry, Jude asked me to stand that’s how he cut hair, he said a little twist on my neck or little movement will affect the balance/symmetry of the hair. He cut the frizz in front my face make it appear like a baby hair (genius! I haven’t stumble hairdresser who has this kind of idea before.) While he was assisting a client I asked one of his staffs who is blow drying my hair, how much is the professional fee of Jude, he said P5000.A whopping 5 thousand pesos for a haircut!
It was blow dry again after that he did the final touches and the after photo was taken.
It was already past 7 pm when i left the salon, time flew that past but i didn’t notice. Hmmm…A taste of the lifestyle of the rich and famous, (ha-ha!)
Jude told me I will notice the difference when my hair grows out because it will grow out nicely.
I think my whole idea of haircut changed and would never be the same again.
It sad because I know I won’t be able to afford such expensive haircut again and even I have the money I won’t spend enormous 5 thousand pesos for haircut , all the hair stylist that would handle my hair after him would just fade in the background. Sad! Sad!
Some Buzz based from what I heard from Jude and Rose:
Rose came corporate world grew tired of it and decided to have a career on hair coloring, early in her profession her mentor told her that she had future on hair coloring.
Accdg to Rose, London is where the hair trend starts, all hair color brands are the same, it’s in the hairstylist.
They both enjoy what they do
Their high end clients are usually referrals from beauty editors.
They always attend seminars in Paris, Milan, London and Asian countries for updates
Based on the internet:
They are the top guns in hair industries
Heaven on the Fifth (Rustan’s) is where you can find the costliest hair cut in the country run by hair stylist Jude Hipolito partnered with International brand Phyto, a first concept salon outside Paris and Milan.
My impression with Jude Hipolito and Rose Velasco:
Both of them are nice and friendly for someone who has achieved so much. Jude seems to be a down to earth. You won’t have a dull moments with him, he always telling story and sharing his knowledge and giving tips on how to style and care for your hair.
Thank You, Jude Hipolito!

Sobra namang gupit yan!

hello im kat, i was one of the lucky models who have worked with sir Jude Hipolito this month for Matrix Hairshow @ rockwell tent. Its true Sir Jude is very down to earth and very accommodating. I know mejo mahirap paniwalaan na worth 5k ang professional fee for a haircut, but well its true. :) i myself saw yung mga bigtime clients ni sir Jude, who flies from cebu to manila just to have their hair done.
And it was that worth because, its worth it. You pay for the Professional Fee- and yung ang rate nya. Its because of his credentials. He earned it. Worked hard, went abroad (US,UK,ASIA) to learn and master his skills. He’s not very much in to advertisement because i know he doesn’t need it. He gets clients who-can-afford his PF from the “elites’ word of mouth”… yes mga kababayan mga Elite po…
Peace! and Love!
here’s my site checkit out

its funny a lot of people dont know why and how in the world magkakaroon ng 5k worth of haircut. Pinoys dont exactly know what their fellow pinoys can do.. or even.. can afford.
Toni and Guy? Frank provost? i bet ordinary Pinoys wont have a clue na nageexist and salon na yun.. and yet yes mahal din ang rate nila.
Hindi pang MASA.
pang ELETISTA. Haciendero. Haciendera. Don at Donya.
In short - pang may-PERA na kayang magbayad sa Professional fee ng mga big time stylists and hair salons.
Parang kainan lang yan eh..
sa turoturo magkano pagkain? 50 pesos, ulam, dalawang kanin, sabaw may sopdrinks ka pa..
sa mamahaling restaurant anong mabibili mo sa 50 pesos? Maliit pa yun para i-pang TIP mo.
LIBO!
Minsan nga pag take out may additional charge pa.
Logic lang. Puro kasi satsat di naman alam sinasabi eh..
