One of Taiwan Interesting Culture

Maybe some of you already familiar with “betel nut” some of old ones called it nga2x! I first saw this nga2x! From my lola, second time was at Baguio before and I almost saw old native Igorots selling and eating,and recently here in Taiwan. However it is not only old mens/womans who eats nga2x but most of people bata matanda mapa lalaki or babae, I can help thinking why?? dumi lang ng ngipin abutin mo tsk!! but in fairness mura ang tooth paste at tooth brush dito sa Taiwan you know what I mean? “kasi walang bumibili!!”I dont know why (”,) siguro magkakasakit ata sila or baka mag karoon ng infection yung gums nila pag nag toothbrush sila and maybe they thought mas yellow and ngipin mas pogi/maganda hihi.. One day I had a chance to ask one of the taxi driver if what would be the significances of eating this piece of crap and he answered, this has been a Taiwanese culture already and beside of it, they use this as their invisible jacket during winter sobrang init daw ang pakiramdam nila pag kumakain sila “wow wais!! what a reason!!”.. kung sa bagay may point sya dun sa sinabi nya, kaso mali eh!! but anyway its not the nga2x! that I’m interested for…its the nga2x! vendors takam!! (”,)..
Actually eto agad ang una kung napansin when I arrived Taiwan, mulat na dilat ang mga mata namen ni Rex C. at nawala ang antok nung napadaaan yung taxi sa isang street na ang daming crystal stands and inside were young, hot, sexy beautiful ladies wearing sexy cloths and even some of them wearing just panty and bra. Siguro natawa yung taxi driver sa naging reaction ko alam mo naman sa bundok mga kalabaw at baboy lang ang nakikita kung hubad kaya patawa nyang sinabi, hey dude those are nga2x! girls and I asked him why??ang aga pa ata kasi sa ermita lumalabas lang sila pag mga 8pm na. He said no they are not prostitutes they just selling betel nuts and cigarettes and Taiwan government allows this business so this is legal. Wow saka ko lang naisip na I really love Taiwan hihi and good thing of always bringing my camera with me so I took my opportunities to take some photos kahit patago, and below are some shots taken from different nga2x! stands here in Taiwan.

Betel nut beauties often hail from agricultural and working-class sectors of Taiwanese society, this has led some critics to regard their revealing dress as a sign of exploitation. Other observers take a more benign view, If most betel nut beauties come from agricultural and working-class backgrounds so do their customers and employers. Betel nuts are after all an agricultural product, these observers are more inclined to see these betel nut vendors as self-empowering young women with few resources who better their economic situation by employing a marketing technique that requires confidence. The same approach is evident they say wherever trade show and fashion models do their work, ordinances that target betel nut beauties exclusively say these observers smack of hypocrisy and class discrimination.
Certainly their own perception is mostly that they are doing a job like any other, and the less they choose to wear, the more they sell. However I got some chismis from some other taxi driver’s na sinasakyan ko na some of them also accepts personal services (”,) so some just making it as front to advertise their beauties to the costumers, I’m not sure if totoo so maybe pag balik ni Rex Cortez from Philippines we’ll try to canvas hehe joke!!.

hahaha.. uso nga yan sa taiwan. I work their before in Hsinchu for 2 years and taipei 2 years din. pero mas masaya sa Hsinchu daming pinoy. anyhow… kahit saang sulok ng taiwan merong Pinlang Susu sawche. yan ang tawag sa kanila. most of them are prostitutes but not all. easy money kasi. madali mong ma spot itong lugar nato kasi red light e. hehehe.. daming ilaw sa labas parang emergency light. every half mile yata may betelnut store. poor hygiene yang mga Taiwanese na yan, d marunong mag toothbrush at maligo, kaya parang laging bagong gising, yung buhok buhaghag. hahaha.. oi anong ginagawa mo dyan sa Taiwan? daming pinoy dyan sa Hsinchu. and disco nila sa pinoy nagsisimula 12 pm hangng 8pm. hehehe.. weird ano? paglabas mo sa discohan may araw. lol.
oi yung nganga pala Cancerous yan. Oral Cancer. pero nakakapang-init ng katawan. kaya ang daming malilibog na chekwa. hahahaha. totoo yan ha. =P
